FC Schalke 04 has missed its third victory in the preparation for the new Bundesliga season. At the test of the 1st FC Cologne in Reutlingen, Jhon Cordoba succeeded in a hat-trick.
Schalke had to be content with a 2:2 (1:0) victory at the debut of goalkeeper Markus Schubert in the so called “Retterspiel” at the economically stricken regional league team SG Wattenscheid 09.
Ahmed Kutucu (4th) and Steven Skrzybski (56th) had put the favourite on course in front of 8009 spectators in the Lohrheidestadion in Bochum. Nico Buckmaier (57.) and Güngör Kaya (70.) were successful for the amateurs afterwards.
Previously, the Royal Blues had defeated a city selection from Bottrop 20:1 and defeated the regional league team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen 3:1.
The Colombian goalscorer Jhon Cordoba, on the other hand, contributed a hat-trick within eight minutes to the 5-1 (4-0) success of 1. FC Cologne in the test match with SSV Reutlingen. The South American was successful in the 14th, 16th and 22nd minute (penalty kick).
In addition, Marcel Risse (36th) and Ruben Reisig (52nd, own goal) scored at the upper league team from Baden-Württemberg. Armin Zukic (78th) scored the Reutlingen honorary goal. Cordoba was already changed after a good half hour.
FC Utrecht has meanwhile won the Blitz tournament in Meppen. The Dutch honorary divisionary won the final 1:0 against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Third place went to hosts SV Meppen with a 3-1 penalty shoot-out against England’s Ipswich Town. After 45 minutes it had been 0:0.
Düsseldorf had qualified for the final by beating the English second league relegator 4:1. The newcomers Erik Thommy (2) and Bernard Tekpetey as well as Captain Oliver Fink scored for the Rhinelanders.
The second semi-final was won by Utrecht 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out against Meppen after 45 minutes without a goal.
