DFB-Team: Claudia Roth: DFB? That must change

Green politician Claudia Roth pleads for a double leadership with a female part in the search for a new leadership of the German Football Association (DFB).

“From experience, I can only recommend this,” the 64-year-old told the kicker: “A woman is part of it so that something really changes.

However, the Vice-President of the German Bundestag, who also works for the DFB Cultural Foundation, avoided a possible candidacy of her own.

“As far as I know, that’s not really up for debate,” said Roth, who preferred to talk to former international Marco Bode: “To me, he’s one of the brightest, a level-headed person who knows all about football.”

In addition, Roth has detailed ideas about the new management of the association and the orientation of the DFB. According to Roth, the largest sports federation in the world must “in principle again see itself more as a lobbyist for football and fans, not for big money”, and the new leadership must “reconcile the league with the amateur sector”.

In addition, the DFB is to reoccupy positions in the committees of the world association FIFA and the European Football Union (UEFA) as quickly as possible.

“The largest sports federation in the world needs a strong voice. The weight of German football is enormous. We just have to use it,” said Roth.

The DFB and the German Football League (DFL) intend to nominate a joint candidate for the election of a new DFB President or a President to the Bundestag on 27 September by 26 July.

In order to be able to create a clear profile of the association boss beforehand, a personnel consulting company was involved in the process.
