Cristiano Ronaldo does not have to fear any criminal consequences because of the rape accusations made against him. According to the Clark County prosecution, the 34-year-old is not being charged. The authority stated that the facts could not be proven beyond doubt.
Ronaldo was accused by US American Kathryn Mayorga of raping her in a hotel room in Las Vegas on 13 June 2009. Already at that time the US-American had filed a complaint and had been examined by a doctor. Mayorga stated that she had later agreed to a waiver of further legal action and a confidentiality agreement for a payment of $375,000.
After the 35-year-old woman renewed her accusations last year, investigations were resumed. According to her lawyer, Mayorga felt encouraged by the revelations of the #MeToo movement to “seek justice” again.
