No contact to Max – Favre tests U19 striker

Bundesliga: BVB: No contact to Max - Favre tests U19 striker

Philipp Max of FC Augsburg has denied rumours that Borussia Dortmund have made initial contact. Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke acts as motivator for BVB before the games. Lucien Favre tests a U19 striker in training. Here you can find all news and rumours about the BVB.

“I only read about the BVB’s interest, there was no contact,” the FCA left-back told SportBild. It was, however, an honour “to be associated with such a large club,” he added.

The 25-year-old had recently been associated with several clubs. Dortmund are looking for a left-back after coach Lucien Favre did not bet on Marcel Schmelzer and Achraf Hakimi missed the final sprint of the season.

Kevin Kampl of RB Leipzig wishes his former colleagues from Dortmund the championship title. “It’s still mathematically possible to do anything. Dortmund has a difficult remaining programme, and the Bavarians have to join us now, which will not be easy for Munich either. As a former Dortmund player and childhood fan, I would be happy for the BVB,” he told SportBild.

Kampl and his team from Leipzig were still in the race for the championship until the last matchday. After the 3:3 against Mainz he wants to help Borussia now with a victory against the Bavarians on Saturday (15.30 o’clock in the LIVETICKER). “As a former Dortmunder, it would be an icing on the cake,” he said.

Kampl grew up about 65 kilometres from Dortmund in Solingen and was an ardent Dortmund fan: “I had everything from the BVB. I was the biggest fan of all.” Only after his change to the youth of Bayer Leverkusen did he “also become a fan of Bayer”.

Critics accuse Lucien Favre of being a technical fanatic, but of lacking the motivator gene of Jürgen Klopp. As SportBild reports, managing director Watzke takes over this task at regular intervals anyway.

In the concluding team meeting before the match against Werder Bremen, Watzke is said to have made a blazing appeal to the team, as the newspaper writes, as he did before the games against Stuttgart and Hertha.

Will an unknown face take his place on the BVB bench at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday? At least in the training session on Tuesday, U19 striker Paul-Philipp Besong was allowed to kick along.

With Marco Reus’s red block, Besong could be an option for the Borussia squad. Besong celebrated his comeback after a one-year injury break (knee) at the beginning of April. He scored three goals in the past four U19 league games.
