Despite the substitution in the 2-1 draw with Betis Sevilla and the loss of the top of the standings, Real Madrid coach Zinédine Zidane has refrained from criticising Toni Kroos.
“I will not accuse Kroos or anyone else of anything We are in the same boat. Today you talk about Toni, but we can talk about anyone. We just weren’t up to the game, that’s all,” the Frenchman said after the defeat.
“I will defend my players and if I have to tell them something, I will tell them. We lacked possession of the ball, which rarely happens to us, and that was our problem tonight.”
