Özil marries and announces charity campaign

Mesut Özil and his bride Amine Gülse have announced a big charity event as part of their glamorous wedding. In the social media, Özil announced that he would like to make a total of 1000 operations possible for children in need worldwide.

30 year old Arsenal professional Özil marries the former “Miss Turkey” on Friday in the Four Seasons Hotel of the Turkish metropolis Istanbul.

According to media reports, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also be invited to the festivities that began on Thursday with the bride’s traditional Henna Night.

Özil had triggered discussions last summer when he posed for a photo with his German teammate Ilkay Gündogan and Erdogan.

After the debacle with the German national team at the World Cup in Russia, he declared his resignation from the DFB team in July and denounced “racism and lack of respect”. Özil’s accusations and the DFB’s handling of the affair led to a controversial debate in Germany.
