Participation in important club decisions – board consists of 16 people
For the first time, Liverpool FC is establishing an official supporters’ board, which will be allowed to have a say in important club decisions in the future
The Supporters Board, as the new board is called, will work with the club’s management and owner Fenway Sports Group to set the direction of the club.
The new Supporters Board will consist of 16 members, including ten members of the “Spirit of Shankly” supporters’ association. The Spirit of Shankly initiative had formed in the spring when Fenway Sports Group campaigned for Liverpool FC’s involvement in the Super League. At the time, fan representatives had protested and pushed for a say in the club.
Representation of diverse fan community
Liverpool FC said the new model of fan voice was confirmed on Monday with almost 99 per cent approval. The Supporters Board will consist of a group of supporters representing the club’s diverse fan base.
Participation in board meetings
The Supporters Board will hold regular meetings with the club and the chairman will be invited to attend LFC’s main board meetings when strategic matters involving fan concerns are discussed.
