Munich – In the semi-finals of the Spanish Supercup, Toni Kroos takes a corner kick directly to Real Madrid’s lead. Valencia’s keeper looks quite old in the process.
What a sly goal from Toni Kroos!
Real Madrid’s German superstar FC Valencia beat FC Valencia 3-1 in the Spanish Supercup semi-finals with a directly converted corner.
In the 15 minutes of the game, the 2014 world champions thoughtfully executed a corner kick from the left, while Valencia keeper Jaume Doménech was still sorting his defence and even stood outside the five-metre area.
Right-footed Kroos struck the ball with speed and a lot of cutting on goal – Doménech only noticed his mistake when the ball was already heading for his box. The goalkeeper sprinted back and even got his hands on the shot, but only fisted it into the net himself.
Kroos and Modric perform magic for Real Madrid
Before the break Isco (39.) raised for the “Royal” in the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, where Luka Jovic was in the starting eleven. It was also the ex-Frankfurter who gave Luka Modric in the 2nd half the second magic goal of the Madrilenians that evening.
After the Serbian’s pass, Modric cheekily flicked the ball into the long corner with the right outside instep – once again, keeper Doménech was duped.
“You can hardly highlight anyone,” said Real coach Zinédine Zidane after the game: “I’m happy for Isco because he made a great play. Kroos scored a brilliant goal, Luka also scored a beautiful goal with the outside crack.”
Valencia only scored an honourable goal in injury time through Daniel Parejo (penalty).
n Sunday’s final match, Real will face either arch-rivals FC Barcelona, with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen currently injured, or city rivals Atletico Madrid. Both clubs will meet in the second semi-final on Thursday (Supercopa: FC Barcelona – Atlético Madrid, Thursdays from 8 pm on LIVETICKER).
Protests against Supercup in Saudi Arabia
In the Spanish Supercup, which is being fiercely contested for the first time in Saudi Arabia, not only the champions and cup winners will be fighting for the trophy, but a total of four teams.
