Spectator turnout in German professional football continues to be high. According to the German Football League (DFL), the number of tickets sold by the 36 professional clubs in the Bundesliga and 2nd league last season was 18.886 million.
This is the second highest value in history. Only in the 2016/17 season were more tickets sold (19.049 million).
The statistics are based on the number of tickets sold, including tickets of honour and free tickets, as they have been since the beginning of the survey.
The development in both leagues is, as usual, linked to the composition of the leagues due to ascents and descents.
Compared to the previous season, the average number of tickets sold in the Bundesliga fell by 2.6 percent to 42,738 per match. Among the top European leagues, this continues to be the top value.
At the same time, demand in the 2nd league rose by 8.6 percent compared to the previous season to 18,980 ticket holders per match.
