Bundesliga: Tests: Bundesliga six-pack makes a big splash

Six weeks before the start of the season, the Bundesliga clubs are in good early form. All six first division clubs in action were able to win their test matches on Saturday.

Oliver Glasner celebrated a successful debut in his first game as coach of VfL Wolfsburg. Thanks to a double pack from Felix Klaus (1., 37.), the Europa League participant won 2-1 (2:0) against the third division team Hansa Rostock.

Bayer Leverkusen also did not miss out in his first test match in the season preparation. Peter Bosz’s team effortlessly defeated Wuppertaler SV from the western regional league 4:0 (3:0). Karim Bellarabi (27th), who returned after a three-month injury break, as well as Kevin Volland (41st), Lars Bender (44th) and Joel Pohjanpalo (74th) shot the Champions League participant to a clear success.

The rising stars, Union Berlin and SC Paderborn, held their ground against international rivals. Thanks to a last-minute goal from Joshua Mees, the Berliners won their first test against the Danish first division team Bröndby IF with 2:1 (0:0).

The SCP kept their white vest in the season preparation after the second test match with a 3:2 (3:1) victory against the English third-league team Ipswich Town.

SC Freiburg had a hard time with SV Linx, but won with goals from newcomer Jeong Woo-Yeong (73rd) and Marco Terrazzino (76th) 2:0 (0:0).

FSV Mainz 05, on the other hand, celebrated a shooting festival: coach Sandro Schwarz’s team won against a select team from Rheinhessen 12-0 (2-0), midfielder Ridle Baku as well as junior players Jonathan Burkhardt and Erkan Eyibil scored three times each.
