National player Toni Kroos reviewed his time with FC Bayern Munich in the documentary film KROOS and criticized the responsible persons of the German record champion in dealing with his person.
“I’ve been told many times how great I am and how right I do everything. But I didn’t play”, said Kroos about his first phase with the Bayern pros from 2007 to 2009: “I really knew that I deserved more”.
From 2009 to 2010, Kroos played on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and developed into a seasoned Bundesliga player. But even after his return to FC Bayern, he did not feel valued. Nevertheless, Kroos extended his contract with the FCB. A decision he regretted a few minutes later.
“During the signing Karl-Heinz Rummenigge made such a statement. Boah, but now you have a great contract’, according to the motto, then you have to play a little better now”, explains Kroos, who, according to his mother Birgit, had already found the attitude in Munich “too fancy” anyway.
Kroos left Bavaria after the World Cup triumph with the German national team in Brazil and moved to Real Madrid in 2014. At that time, contract negotiations with the association failed due to different salary expectations. A circumstance that President Uli Hoeneß today classifies as a mistake.
“Toni’s a super player. But there is no player in the world who does everything alone. A club sometimes has to make tough decisions. That was a hard one, perhaps the wrong one, no question,” Hoeneß said.
For Kroos, on the other hand, the switch to the royals was the right decision. At Real, the 29-year-old midfield strategist became a fixture in the star squad and won the Champions League three times.
Hansi Flick, former DFB sports director and national team assistant for many years, returns to the German champion Bayern Munich and becomes head coach Niko Kovac’s assistant according to the kicker.
Flick is expected to start the season preparation on July 8th in Munich. A confirmation of the commitment on the part of FC Bayern is still pending, however. From 1985 to 1990 Flick had worn the Bavarian dress as a player.
