Bundesliga: FC Bayern: Schweinsteiger doubts Sane

Bastian Schweinsteiger has expressed doubts as to whether national team player Leroy Sane could close the gap left by Franck Ribery’s departure with record champions Bayern Munich. “It remains to be seen whether a player like Leroy has the consistency to show this in the long run,” Schweinsteiger told Sportbild.

Schweinsteiger praised Serge Gnabry as Bavaria’s wingman. “It’s nice for me to see how a Serge Gnabry developed through his stations at Arsenal, Bremen, Hoffenheim and Bavaria. In football, the mentality of the player is very important,” said the 2014 World Champion.

The Chicago Fire professional in the North American MLS professional league is still convinced by national coach Joachim Löw. “I can’t think of a better national coach for Germany. I’m convinced that we’ll get far again at the next tournament and play for the title,” said Schweinsteiger.

However, not everything went optimally during the retirement of his former teammates Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller from the national team.

The 34-year-old said that he was “sorry for Thomas, Mats and Jerome” for the external image: “They are great players and deserved a different farewell.

His own sporting future in Chicago is still open. “I have always decided the last two seasons only in autumn whether I will play another year. I haven’t made a decision yet,” said the 121-time international.
