Bundesliga: Hoffenheim extended with Grillitsch

TSG Hoffenheim has extended its contract with Austrian international Florian Grillitsch for another year ahead of schedule. As the Kraichgauer announced on Wednesday, the 23-year-old signed a new working paper valid until 2022.

In 2017 Grillitsch had switched from his league competitor Werder Bremen to TSG without any replacement. Last year he played 36 out of 42 possible compulsory games.

“Florian is an exceptionally talented footballer who interprets the strategically and technically extremely demanding position in the central midfield in an outstanding way,” said sports director Alexander Rosen. Thus Grillitsch had become a “player courted beyond the borders of the Bundesliga”. “All the stronger is the sign that Flo has now set with his overtime,” Rosen said.

During the current transfer period, TSG has already had to cope with the departures of national player Nico Schulz (Borussia Dortmund) and Confed Cup winner Kerem Demirbay (Bayer Leverkusen). In addition, the long-standing success coach Julian Nagelsmann moved to RB Leipzig.
