Bundesliga: Calmund sure: "Brazzo is no bratwurst!"

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has received an enthusiastic response from Reiner Calmund. Uli Hoeneß commented on the sale of Toni Kroos. The personnel of Timo Werner could be exciting again. Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern.

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has received backing from Reiner Calmund. The long-time Leverkusen manager said in the picture: “Brazzo is not a bratwurst! Even if it is not always perfect grammatically – he speaks German, English, Italian, Spanish, Serbo-Croatian. You have to find someone like him first.”

In his assessment, Calmund particularly referred to the opinion of current or former Salihamidzic employees: “He is praised by Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge for the green clover. Jupp Heynckes and Peter Hermann have also always spoken positively about him in conversations with me”.

Calmund recognises the problem behind the FCB’s faltering transfer offensive elsewhere: “It’s no longer the case that FC Bayern calls a player and he immediately gets on the plane. Nowadays, the big stars have more opportunities to sign attractive contracts with top clubs. Economically, the Munich clubs have to struggle with even financially stronger clubs in Europe.”

FC Bayern Munich has signed Sarpreet Singh. The 20-year-old comes from Wellington Phoenix in the Australian Premier League and will support the amateurs for the time being. In the long run, the offensive player should also play a role in the first team. He will be the first New Zealander in the Bavarian jersey.

“With Sarpreet we were able to engage a technically strong and very talented offensive midfielder. We are very happy that he chose FC Bayern,” said Jochen Sauer, head of FC Bayern Campus. Singh described the change as an “outstanding step”.

Last week Wellington Phoenix had already confirmed that Singh was in Munich. In the meantime, an agreement has been reached between the two clubs. The Munich-based company thus prevailed against numerous competitors.

Bayern Munich’s President Uli Hoeneß has commented on the sale of Toni Kroos to Real Madrid in summer 2014. “We had made a mad offer and told him: ‘If you don’t accept this, you have to go’, Hoeneß is quoted from the picture.

Kroos had negotiated a new contract with FC Bayern in the 2013/14 season. When his demands were not met, he decided to move to Spain. At Real Madrid he recently extended until 2023.

This week, a documentary on the 29-year-old’s career to date will be shown in selected cinemas. In the run-up to the tournament, the national player had described the talks with the Bavarians at the time as “simply funny”.

According to coach Sebastian Hoeneß, Bayern Munich’s U23 is well prepared for the 3rd league. On the club’s homepage the promoted trainer was confident after the training camp: “We can be satisfied. Both on and off the pitch we had a good mix of seriousness and fun.”

Nevertheless, Hoeneß warned against some factors that could be improved. This became visible in the 1:4 defeat against the WSG Swarovski Tirol: “We got in well, but in the half hour before half time we make too many easy mistakes. That’s when we saw what happens when we’re not fully involved.”

Accordingly, “a lot of work” still awaits the team. The league starts in three weeks: “Basically we want to stay in the league. Above all, however, it is a matter of appearing courageous and brash. At the same time, we want to press ahead with training. In addition to the goals of the team, the main focus is on individual development.”
