Before meeting Atalanta Bergamo, Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the Serie A Player of the Season Award by Italian record holder Juventus Turin.
However, the fact that the 34-year-old received his trophy on Sunday, two matchdays before the end, is unusual. Actually, the players only receive their awards at the end of the season.
Ronaldo have scored 21 goals in Serie A this season and have been instrumental in Juventus becoming champions for the eighth consecutive year. He has thus become Player of the Year in England, Spain and Italy.
In addition to Ronaldo, Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Lazios Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Sampdoria goalkeeper Fabio Quagliarella will also receive individual awards on their respective positions. Nicolo Zaniolo was also honoured by AS Rome as the best young player.
