Sarris targets: CL title and Ronaldo record

Series A: Sarris targets: CL title and Ronaldo record

Maurizio Sarri wants to lead the Italian record champion Juventus Turin to the European soccer throne and is counting on superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The conquest of the Champions League title is “extremely tough, but the goal is clear,” said the new coach at his presentation on Thursday.

For him, his move from Europa League winner FC Chelsea to Turin was “the culmination of a journey of many steps”. Now the Italian Juve wants to help to the first triumph in the premier class since 1996.

Ronaldo has a decisive role to play here. “It’s fantastic to be able to train Ronaldo after coaching a lot of great players at Chelsea. I hope that Ronaldo will be able to score a record number of goals with me,” said Sarri, who replaces Massimiliano Allegri.

The club of Sami Khedira and Emre Can have bound Sarri until 2022 and pay the coach 5.5 million euros per season. One million euros plus bonus payments were due as a replacement for the success coach.

“I’ve never seen a club so determined to hire a coach. That convinced me,” said Sarri.
