Sami Khedira before farewell at Juventus Turin

Serie A: Sami Khedira before farewell at Juventus Turin

Former national player Sami Khedira is facing tough times at Serie A record holder Juventus Turin. According to information from Goal and SOCCERSCORE, it no longer plays a role in the plans of the new trainer Maurizio Sarri and, if possible, will be handed over this summer despite a contract running until 2021.

The 32-year-old was one of ex-Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri’s favourite pupils, which is why he only extended his contract last autumn. After changing coach at the Bianconerih, however, he no longer has any prospects.

In Turin they know that it will be difficult to find a new club for Khedira, because it is one of the top earners and collects around five million euros net. Therefore a model is considered, as it was practiced last year with Claudio Marchisio: The contract will be terminated by mutual agreement and Khedira may go free.

One club that has been working on a possible commitment of the 2014 World Champion over the past few days is the top Turkish club Besiktas. However, Khedira is sceptical about a transfer to Istanbul.

He moved from Real Madrid to Turin in the summer of 2015 without a replacement and has since won four championships and three Coppa Italia titles with the old lady.

In the past season, however, he was increasingly plagued by health problems and had to undergo heart and knee surgery. Thus, in 2018/19, he only managed to score two goals in 17 compulsory games.
