Portuguese Paulo Fonseca is the new coach at AS Rome. He receives a two-year contract with an option to extend it for a further year. This was officially announced by the club on Tuesday.
After three years with Schachtjor Donezk, the 46-year-old comes to the Italian capital to take over the post from Claudio Ranieri, who held the coaching post on an interim basis last season.
With Donetsk, Fonseca won the double of championship and cup three times during his tenure in Ukraine. Before that, he spent much of his career in his Portuguese homeland as a coach in Porto and Braga.
