Central defender Diego Godin will move from Atletico Madrid to Inter Milan, Italy’s top club, without a replacement. This was officially announced by the Nerazzurri early Monday morning.
Godin, who had already announced at the beginning of May that he would not renew his contract with Atletico, which expired on 30 June, signs a working paper with Inter until 2022.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan had switched from Villarreal to Colchoneros in 2010. In nine years of Atletico, he played 389 matches for the club, won the Spanish championship in 2014 and won the Europa League in 2012 and 2018.
At Inter, he will probably form the trio with Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij under the new coach Antonio Conte.
