Series A: Mauro Icardi allegedly threatens Inter Milan

Star striker Mauro Icardi has allegedly threatened to sit out his 2021 contract with the Italian top club at Inter Milan. According to a report in the newspaper La Repubblica, the Argentinean is said to have said: “I will stay here for two years, collect my salary and not move”.

The trigger for the statement: On Saturday, Inter sent Icardi home from the training camp in Lugano to prepare individually for the season. In addition, the 26-year-old will not take part in the Nerazzurri’s trip to Asia. According to the official announcement of the association, this decision was made by mutual agreement.

Inter-Boss Giuseppe Marotta had already announced a few days ago at Sky Sport Italia that Icardi no longer played a role in the planning of the Nerazzurri. Juventus Turin and SSC Naples are the main potential customers for the offensive player.

In 2013, Icardi switched from Sampdoria Genau to Inter for around three million euros. In the past season, the striker scored 17 goals in 37 competitive games for the Milanese. The ex-captain was suspended from February to April after refusing to travel to the European League game with Rapid Vienna.
