Juve boss explains separation from Allegri

Series A: Juve boss explains separation from Allegri

Juventus Turin President Andrea Agnelli justified the separation from coach Massimiliano Allegri announced on Friday with the need to end an era in the club’s history. “We have understood that this is the right moment to complete this cycle,” Agnelli said at a press conference with Allegri in Turin on Saturday.

Agnelli stressed that the separation from the coach, who had been with Juve since 2014, was the most painful decision since he took over the club in 2010. The 51-year-old Allegri, with whom Juventus had won the championship five years in a row, had written club history. “If you work for Juve, you have to know you have to win,” the coach said. He leaves behind a successful team.

In the meantime there are speculations about the possible successor. A return of Antonio Conte, who coached the club between 2011 and 2014, is not excluded. According to the media, Juve could also sound out Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri’s willingness to move to Turin. According to Gazzetta dello Sport France’s national coach Didier Deschamps and Tottenham’s team manager Mauricio Pochettino are further candidates.
