Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has indicated that the commitment of Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is currently stalling due to exaggerated demands for a redemption from the Royal Family.
“Real Madrid is the obstacle, because in our view they insist on exaggerated demands. They have too high expectations,” De Laurentiis said in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.
He didn’t want to reveal what the sum was, but he equally assured: “James wants to join Napoli.” According to Marca, Real is hoping for a redemption of around 50 million euros.
According to Naples’ president, the Colombian would be a perfect match for the club, not least because of the close relationship between James and Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti. “He is the player who attracts the media most, along with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Carlo Ancelotti likes him very much and now we’re waiting for a more reasonable offer,” says De Laurentiis.
Ancelotti had already coached James during his time with Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich. Finally, the 60-year-old stressed that he would like to take his former protégé under his wing again.
