The Italian football league wants to let football matches take place in front of empty stands because of the coronavirus circulating in northern Italy.
The president of the Serie A, Paolo Dal Pino, asked in a letter to the government not to suspend the league games in the areas affected by the coronavirus, as the news agency “Ansa” reported.
Instead, they should be allowed to take place behind closed doors – that is, as ghost games without fans. This was necessary in order to keep the league game schedule until the start of the European Soccer Championship in June.
