Inter Milan has sent a clear signal after the engagement of Romelu Lukaku. The club revoked Mauro Icardi’s number 9 and passed it on to Manchester United.
This change in numbering was announced by Inter on Friday. For Icardi this should mean another hint with the fence post. Inter Milan is aiming to separate from the rebellious Argentinian this summer.
Icardis’ contract only runs until summer 2020, which is why he would then be on the market free of charge. With Lukaku, who was promoted to the record level in club history by Manchester United for 65 million euros, Icardi’s sporting role has already been reoccupied.
Juventus and Napoli were the last to be interested in the 26-year-old striker. The extent to which a transfer could be realised financially, however, is currently still unclear. An agreement seems to take some time to negotiate.
