The Italian international and former Dortmund player Ciro Immobile (29) has apparently been targeted by the Spanish police for alleged involvement in illegal betting.

As the newspaper As reports with reference to official investigation documents that Immobile’s name appears in a conversation between Carlos Aranda, one of the main accused in the Spanish betting scandal about the first division team Real Valladolid, and the Italian Mattia Mariotti.

Aranda, who is now in custody together with the former Real Madrid professional Raul Bravo, tried to manipulate a game of the then Italian first division team Frosinone Calcio. According to the investigations, Mariotti was a confidant of Arandas.

With this victory, Valencia secured fourth place in the Primera Division and thus participation in the Champions League.

Both goals resulted from serious defensive errors. At the request of the relegated FC Girona, the Spanish association RFEF has meanwhile initiated an investigation against Valladolid.

In the event of a conviction, the club is threatened with forced descent.
