The change from central defender Matthijs de Ligt to Juventus Turin is nearing completion. As Sky Sport and several other Italian media unanimously report, the Serie A champion has reached agreement with Ajax Amsterdam on a redemption of 75 million euros including bonuses.
The 19-year-old is expected in Turin at the beginning of next week and should complete the medical check on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. On Saturday, Ajax had already announced that de Ligt would not be going to the training camp of the Dutch double winner in Austria “in anticipation of a possible transfer”.
As SOCCERSCORE and Goal reported a week ago, Juve and de Ligt themselves had been in agreement for quite some time anyway. According to Sky Sport, the Dutch national player will in future receive a basic salary of eight million euros per year from the Bianconeri and an exit clause of 150 million euros.
The de Ligts contract with Ajax was valid until 2021. The teenager is the youngest captain in the history of the traditional club from Amsterdam and had led his team to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
