Cristiano Ronaldo accuses his critics of just waiting to see the superstar fail at Juventus Turin. At the same time, he remembers the fans at Real Madrid.
“The critics see me as a person who must never have problems or concerns, who can never be sad,” says Ronaldo at El Pais. “People think money’s no problem.”
“How can Cristiano be sad with all his millions in the account?” the 34-year-old continued. “I know that people will continue to point the finger at me and wait for me to shoot a penalty or fail in an important game. But that’s part of life.”
At the same time, Ronaldo recalls his time in Spain, where he played for the royals between 2009 and 2018. “Everyone treated me well in Spain,” says Ronaldo.
He can’t deny or forget the tax problems, but “the fans in Madrid loved me. They know that I gave Real a lot and when they meet me on the street they say, ‘Come back Cris, this will always be your home’. That’s what I like to hear.”
