CR7: “Don’t feel the need to dribble.”

Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus Turin has commented on the changes he has made to his playing in recent years. His former urge to go into the spectacular one-on-one plays an important role.

“There used to be those moments when I would go on the court and think, ‘I’m going to dribble’. If I am honest, I no longer have this need,” the Portuguese said in an interview with El Pais. He added: “I see football as a mission. Go to the field, win, get better.”

With regard to his advanced footballing age, the five-time world footballer declared: “There is an additional pressure. People always judge, they say, “It’s over. He’s 33, 34 or 35 years old.’ You want to surprise these people.”

Last summer, Ronaldo moved from Real Madrid to the Old Lady for 117 million euros, with whom he recently prematurely bagged the championship title. However, a success in the Champions League is no longer possible this season. Ronaldo, after lifting the Henkel pot in the past three years, was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Ajax Amsterdam with his new club.

His contract with the Bianconeri runs until 2022.
