Conte checks Bale transfer to Inter

Published on

In planning a competitive squad for the new season, Inter Milan seem to have Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale in mind. According to media reports, the new coach, Antonio Conte, wants to examine the chances of a transfer of the 29-year-old.

However, the financial framework could turn out to be a problem, as Bale currently earns 20 million euros a year. He had recently stressed several times that he wanted to stay with Real Madrid, and that he would only leave the club if he were to be paid a similar sum elsewhere.

Advisor Jonathan Barnett had last ruled out a loan from Bale. In order to contract him, Inter would first have to sell striker Mauro Icardi in order to pay the transfer and the salary.

Bale is still under contract in Madrid until 2022, but was last put in the shop window by President Florentino Perez. With new additions such as Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, the club has already signed several new players for the offensive.
