Former midfielder Xabi Alonso is said to be relinquishing his position as coach of Real Madrid’s U14 side and will play a similar role with his former club Real Sociedad.
As the AS reports, although Alonso’s position is still open, it will be more important than his previous position in Madrid.
The Marca had previously reported that the 37-year-old would be joining Real Sociedad next season to take on either the second team or the U19.
The club leadership of Real Madrid had also apparently offered Alonso to take over the U19 in the future – but he is said to have rejected this offer.
Alonso, who now holds the UEFA Pro Licence, had only last year taken over the U14 of the royals and led them to win the association championship.
So the 2010 World Champion is making progress in his coaching career and FC Bayern is following that with interest. CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently stated that the former director of the Reds must return to Munich in the medium term.
