Spanish champions FC Barcelona have signed defender Junior Firpo from LaLiga rival Betis Sevilla. This was officially announced by the Catalans on Sunday. The left-back costs 18 million euros in compensation, plus a further twelve million euros in the form of bonus payments.
Firpo, who is scheduled as a supplement to Jordi Alba on the left defensive side, signs a five-year contract with Barca.
The 22-year-old has played for Betis since 2014 and made his breakthrough last season. There he played 29 compulsory games in which he scored three goals and delivered five assists.
After Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Frenkie de Jong (Ajax), Neto (FC Valencia) and Emerson (Atletico Mineiro), he is the fifth notable newcomer to the Blaugrana this summer.
