FC Barcelona will firmly commit Kevin-Prince Boateng this summer, according to Giovanni Carnevali, boss of Italian first division team Sassuolo. Boateng had been awarded to the Catalans by the Italians in the second half of last season. Barca had secured a purchase option in the amount of eight million euros.
“I think Barcelona will buy it and then give it to another Spanish team. He will probably stay in LaLiga,” Carnevali said to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
From a sporting point of view, a purchase would not help Barcelona, as Boateng’s only four matches were well below expectations during his loan period.
From a financial point of view, however, as suggested by Carnevali, a commitment could be useful for Spaniards if they consider that they would make a profit with Boateng on a resale.
Carnevali does not believe that Barcelona will let Boateng return to Sassuolo. “I don’t think we’re gonna see him here again. It’s hard,” he said.
