Real Madrid’s new commitment Eden Hazard was officially presented on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Belgian did not yet have a shirt number. He revealed that he had asked Luka Modric for his prestigious “10”, but had collected a basket.
“He said no. I have to find another number,” says Hazard about a conversation with the Croat. He had previously contacted Modric via his compatriot Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea FC) and jokingly asked for the back number.
But the 28-year-old has no problem with not being able to wear his Chelsea jersey number for the time being. “For me the number is not important, but to play with this jersey and this coat of arms”, explained Hazard.
Even as a penalty kicker, the outer lane player does not want to impose himself. So he said: “With regard to the penalty kicks, I think the captain of the club (Sergio Ramos, editor’s note) shoots them very well,” and went on, “I think he’s going to keep scoring.”
Last week, Eden Hazard transferred from Chelsea FC to Real Madrid for around 100 million euros. On Thursday he was presented to 50,000 fans at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu at his new club.
