Messi’s going on Abidal Trouble: “Just crazy”

At the beginning of February, a fierce dispute arose at FC Barcelona between sports director Eric Abidal and captain Lionel Messi. Now the Argentinian has justified his clear criticism.

“I don’t know his reasons. But I replied because I felt attacked. And I felt that he was attacking the players,” Lionel Messi told Mundo Deportivo in an interview.

Abidal had publicly hinted that an attitude problem with the players played a decisive role in Enrique Valverde’s dismissal. Messi responded bitingly by saying that everyone at the club should “take care of their own duties” and that the sports management should “take sole responsibility for their own decisions”.
