Colombian media report that Atletico Madrid has probably entered the race for James Rodriguez of Real Madrid. According to the ‘Gol Caracol’ programme on Caracol Television, the 27-year-old, who is also associated with Napoli, would prefer to move within Spain.
James doesn’t play a role in coach Zinedine Zidane’s plans and could therefore leave the club in the summer. In particular Napoli trainer Carlo Ancelotti, with whom James had already collaborated with the royals, had been said to be interested in the last.
However, no agreement has yet been reached and Atletico could now see his chance. With the departure of Rodri, Gelson Martins and Lucas Hernandez – and probably also Antoine Griezmann – Atletico has a large budget available for possible new acquisitions.
Accordingly, Real Madrid is demanding a transfer fee of 45 million euros for James.
