Haaland to Barca? Presidential candidate speaks out

In January Borussia Dortmund secured the services of Erling Haaland. Since then, the 19-year-old Norwegian has been delivering one gala performance after another in the BVB jersey. Interested parties are already queuing up, especially with Real Madrid, the shooting star is constantly being linked.

Will Erling Haaland be joining FC Barcelona in the near future? Probably not. Victor Font, one of the leading candidates with a view to the currently vacant presidential office at Barca, spoke in a Q&A session about his plans with the top Catalan club.

When he hypothetically chose between Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, Font said: “One of the biggest changes will be that the sporting decisions will be in the hands of the sporting structure”, which should mean so much that Font will not interfere in the concerns of the sporting leadership under the leadership of sports director Ramon Planes, unlike the previous president Josep Maria Bartomeu has done in recent years.

Font continues: “I think both players are great. But the economic situation is critical and we will not be able to cope with transfers of this magnitude for the time being.” A clear rejection of a Haaland transfer.
