The former Spanish national football coach Julen Lopetegui is the new coach of the Spanish first division team FC Sevilla. As the Andalusians announced on Tuesday, the 52-year-old will receive a three-year contract until 2022.
He succeeds Joaquin Caparros (63), who resigned at the end of the season.
Lopetegui’s last stop was an unsuccessful interlude with Spanish record holders Real Madrid, who had poached him from the national team just before the start of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. After six defeats, two draws and only six wins, the royals separated from Lopetegui in October after only 14 competitive games.
