Atletico Madrid has won the race for the Portuguese storm jewel Joao Felix. The Spanish first league team announced on Wednesday the commitment of the 19-year-old from Benfica Lisbon, who comes for the fixed transfer fee of 126 million euros and receives a contract until 2024.
Felix is to earn seven million euros net per year. According to information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal, the Spanish vice-champion has anchored an exit clause amounting to 250 million euros in the attacker’s five-year contract.
The “new Cristiano Ronaldo” has attracted the attention of Europe’s top clubs in the past season with 20 goals in 43 compulsory matches for Benfica. At Atletico the national player is scheduled to succeed Antoine Griezmann.
After five years, the world champion also leaves the Rojiblancos for a fixed 120 million Euro redemption with an as yet unknown destination. FC Barcelona, in particular, will be looking for Griezmann.
