Didier Deschamps has revealed the imminent transfer of left-back Ferland Mendy to Real Madrid. “Ferland improved dramatically. Two years ago he was in Ligue 2 and now he will be with Real Madrid,” France’s national coach said at a press conference about the 24-year-old from Olympique Lyon.
“He’s double-footed, with us he was good every time he played,” Deschamps added. Mendy joined OL from Le Havre in summer 2017 from Ligue 2.
Reports of a transfer of Ferland Mendys from Lyon to the royals had recently piled up. Between 50 and 60 million euros will be traded as a redemption.
After Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, Mendy would thus be another piece in Real Madrid’s puzzle. He is likely to compete with old champion Marcelo on the left-back position.
