Barca vice over Neymar: “It’s complicated.”

Jordi Cardoner, FC Barcelona vice-president, has commented on a possible return of PSG superstar Neymar to Camp Nou. Cardoner was not particularly optimistic.

“As of today, as the President said, there is no ‘Neymar case’. It’s complicated,” Cardoner told the Spanish TV channel TV3. The ball is at PSG anyway, he stressed: “We know that he is not happy in Paris. It is a situation that must first be resolved in Paris. But we haven’t talked to them yet. There’s a lot of respect between the clubs. We won’t talk until there’s a Neymar case.”

For months there has been speculation about Neymar returning to his former club, for which he already played from 2013 to 2017. According to information from Goal and SOCCERSCORE, the latest status is that Barca plans to start negotiations with PSG soon. However, the French champion continues to demand the 222 million euros in rebates, which he himself transferred to Barcelona in 2017.

According to Cardoner, a transfer “at this time” is excluded. But he left a back door just as open as Barca President Josep Maria Bartomeu, who said at the presentation of newcomer Junior Firpo on Sunday: “The market is still open for a few weeks. There may be more new arrivals.”

Neymar is currently preparing for the new season with coach Thomas Tuchel’s team. The 27-year-old attacker’s contract in the French capital runs until 2022.
