According to the Argentinian radio station Radio La Red FC Barcelona is interested in the striker Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan. The Catalans would therefore have to put 112 million euros on the table in order to draw the Argentinian national player’s withdrawal clause.
Barca is apparently to prefer Martinez to his team mate Mauro Icardi. The 22-year-old only came to Italy from the Racing Club in 2018 for 14 million euros. The club from a suburb of Buenos Aires would allegedly be entitled to ten percent of the transfer proceeds. In the Nerazzurri he scored nine times in 35 compulsory games in his debut season.
Martinez is currently in the Copa America with Argentina, where he will face hosts Brazil in the semi-final between Tuesday and Wednesday (Wednesday 2am live on DAZN). Since his debut for the Gauchos in March 2018, he has scored five goals in nine games.
In addition to Martinez, Barca is to be involved in two other offensive players, each of whom would cost over 100 million euros. The commitment of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann for around 126 million euros is expected to be imminent, and the return of the Brazilian Neymar is also still in the pipeline. Martinez could be an alternative if one of the two transfers does not materialise.
