Barca did not want “technically limited” Haaland

Published on

In January, Erling Haaland moved from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga. Since then, the 19-year-old Norwegian has been causing astonished faces in BVB’s dress. For FC Barcelona, on the other hand, the striker’s skills were allegedly not enough.

In the summer of 2019, when the Catalans were looking for a nine-pointer who, in the shadow of Luis Suárez, could mature into a real rival for the top star from Uruguay, the Barca bosses are said to have set their sights on Erling Haaland, among others. However, the deal did not materialise, as Haaland was denied the class to be able to compete in Catalonia. This was reported by “Mundo Deportivo”.

According to the report, Barca watched the youngster 15 times, but the scouts of the La Liga giant came to the conclusion that Haaland did not match the club’s DNA. The Norwegian international is technically limited and does not fit into the combination game that characterises the Blue Grana, according to the assessment.
