Atletico apparently wants to prevent Griezmann playing permits

Atletico Madrid wants to prevent Antoine Griezmann from playing for FC Barcelona in competitive games. This was confirmed by Spain’s League President Javier Tebas. Both clubs continue to argue over 80 million euros.

“Atletico has written a letter questioning whether the league is issuing a license to Barcelona for Griezmann,” Tebas confirmed to Onda Cero. According to the president of the league, there is a theoretical possibility that Griezmann will not be allowed to play.

But that would not be in his power: “Now a mechanism will be set in motion. These are the competent bodies that will resolve the situation. I’m not a part of this court.”

FC Barcelona signed Griezmann in July, after its withdrawal clause fell from 200 million euros to 120 million euros. However, Atletico suspects that an agreement had already been reached with the player and therefore insists on the full redemption of 200 million euros.

The Catalans deny these accusations and continue to publicly present the version in which Griezmann was contacted in July regarding a transfer in the summer of 2019. The striker has already made his debut for the Blaugrana: On Tuesday he was on the starting line-up against FC Chelsea (1:2).
