FC Barcelona have lost 0-2 (0-0) with a C-team against relegation candidate Celta Vigo. In the league, coach Ernesto Valverde spared all the stars for the semi-final return leg in the Champions League against Liverpool (Tue, 9 pm live on DAZN) in England, Marc-Andre ter Stegen did not even sit on the bench.

Maxi Gomez (67th) and Iago Aspas (88th/handelfmeter) met for the hosts, who got some air through the success. Vigo is five points ahead of the first relegation place for the time being.

Valverde only put one player in the starting eleven in Ousmane Dembele, who had played against the Reds during the week. However, the former Dortmund player had to be replaced in the sixth minute due to a thigh injury and could be missing in Liverpool. “Losing Dembele is a big setback,” Valverde said after the game.

From the starting eleven against the Reds with team manager Jürgen Klopp only Clement Lenglet, the former Munich Arturo Vidal and Philippe Coutinho belonged to the line-up. In addition to the piers, Lionel Messi, double goal scorer against the LFC, and Luis Suarez were also spared.

Barca had already made the 26th win of the Spanish championship clear last weekend.

The second in the standings, Atletico Madrid, was undermined at Espanyol Barcelona with the A-team. The Rojiblancos lost 0:3 (0:1).

Diego Godin opened the defeat with an own goal just before half time (45.+1). Borja Iglesias scored twice in the second round (52., 89.). He scored his second goal from the penalty spot after Juanfran Espanyol-Joker Javier Puado had checked in the penalty area.

Atletico had left a lot of chances in the first half. “The Spanish league is fantastic, so we will try to reach the best possible position. We need one more point to finish second and it’s up to us to earn it,” said coach Diego Simeone.
