The change from Ferland Mendy to Real Madrid is in dry cloths. He signs a six-year contract at the Bernabeu.
The negotiations between Real and Lyon over a transfer of defender players had been going on for weeks, and France coach Didier Deschamps had already revealed the change over the past few days. The 24-year-old will now be presented as a newcomer in Madrid on 19 June.
At Real, Mendy is initially planned on the left side of the four-man chain as a high-calibre alternative to Marcelo. In the long run, he should inherit the 31-year-old Brazilian there.
For the royals, the eventful transfer summer thus continues. After Porto defender Eder Militao, Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic and Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard, Mendy is the fourth notable newcomer in the young transfer period.
