For Spanish third-league club UD Ibiza, the cup match against champions FC Barcelona is the highlight of the year – but the game against world footballers Lionel Messi and Co. has also brought criminals to the scene.
Two masked men broke into the offices of the Balearic Islands club in the night to Monday and stole 40 tickets for the third-round match on Wednesday (19:00). Security cameras recorded the break-in, but the stolen tickets had already been blocked for entry, according to the club.
Before the game against the Catalans, special ticket controls by the police will still be carried out to track down the perpetrators. Tickets for the cup match cost between 55 and 70 euros, the stadium Can Misses only has room for 4500 spectators.
