Without Özil: Salto-Auba ensures Arsenal victory

Without Mesut Özil and thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, FC Arsenal have won their first Premier League match of the season. The Londoners won Newcastle United 1-0 (0-0), with former Dortmund Aubameyang contributing the winning goal (58th).

Newcomer Joelinton made his debut at Newcastle, who had moved to England from Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim for around 55 million euros.

Rio World Champion Özil (30) and former Schalker Sead Kolasinac (26) had been eliminated from the squad for the season opener by the Gunners for safety reasons.

The two had been victims of an armed robbery in London a little more than two weeks ago, after which further incidents are said to have occurred.

Last Thursday, London police arrested two suspects near Özil’s residence and filed charges against them.

According to media reports, the two men had quarreled with security guards at the Özil House. The two 27-year-olds are due to stand trial on September 6.
