Premier League: Top scorer in the Premier League: Who won the Golden Boot in England?

The Premier League has ended its 2018/2019 season. This time, after 38 match days, there will be three players who will share the top scorer’s crown for the most successful scorer in England. SOCCERSCORE gives an overview about the winners of the Golden Boot and shows the winners of the last years.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (FC Arsenal) and the duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane (both FC Liverpool), three players share the crown of goal scorers this season. The last time there were so many winners was in 1997/98, when six players shared the crown with 18 goals each.

Jürgen Klopp, coach of FC Liverpool, joked on Saturday about the three best scorers: “They’re all my players.” Klopp had trained Aubameyang with Borussia Dortmund from 2013 to 2015.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored three goals in his last two games of the season to catch up with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The Gabonese only needed 124 minutes of play per goal in 36 matches this year, making him better than his rivals in this respect. “Auba” has been playing for FC Arsenal since January 2018, so it was his first full season with the Gunners.

Mohamed Salah won the Golden Boot for the second time after his incredible season 2017/18. In February and March, he was goalless for six consecutive games, but scored five goals in the last six league games. He’s been with the Reds since July 2017.

Sadio Mane has been a goalscorer over the past few years, but this season he has improved considerably before the goal. He scored 13 goals for FC Liverpool in 2016/17 and ten last year. He scored six double packs this season.

With 22 goals, the trio of the past season are not among the most productive scorers of recent years. Mohamed Salah scored a proud ten goals more last year. Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov, who shared the goalscoring crown with 20 goals in the 2010/11 season, were weaker recently.
