Following the series of successes in recent weeks, Stefano Pioli will also be able to train AC Milan next season. It is also clear that Ralf Rangnick, currently employed as a football strategist in the Red Bull Empire, will not move to the 18-time Italian championship as a new strong man
. Milan manager Ivan Gazidis had been negotiating with 62-year-old Rangnick for months about a job as sports director and coach – apparently without results
. Rangnick was never eligible for an appointment only as sports director and thus as successor to Milan legend Paolo Maldini. He, who had already learned the Italian language, wanted to have the sporting say for the composition and training of the squad. During his seven years in office at RB Leipzig, he was twice very successful in this dual role as coach and sports director: in the promotion season to the Bundesliga 2015/16 and in the 2018/19 season with qualification for the Champions League and entry into the DFB Cup final against FC Bayern.
