Premier League: Spurs scratch late past embarrassment

Tottenham Hotspur has struggled to celebrate their first victory after their rush to the semi-finals of the Champions League and scored three points in the fight for third place in the Premier League.

Thanks to a late goal from Christian Eriksen (88th), the Spurs won the match at home against relegation candidates Brighton & Hove Albion 1:0 (0:0) and are three points ahead of Chelsea FC with 70 points.

FC Arsenal in fifth place (66) have played one game less and could move closer on Wednesday with a win at Wolverhampton Wanderers. The first four in the table qualify for the Champions League via the league.

On Saturday Tottenham had lost the premier class revenge at Manchester City 0:1. In the weeks before, the Spurs had qualified for the last four in the Champions League despite a spectacular 3-4 defeat in the return leg at ManCity (first leg 1-0).
